What a watermark realistically achieves

A watermark deters casual reuse and keeps your name attached when an image is reposted. It does not prevent theft: a corner mark can be cropped out and a light overlay can be painted over. If deterrence matters more than looks, place the mark across the middle of the subject at low opacity rather than in a corner.

Settings that tend to work

Opacity between 25% and 45% stays readable without dominating the picture. A diagonal angle is harder to crop away than a horizontal one. Size the text to about a third of the image width for a centred mark, and always check it against both light and dark areas of the photo.

Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?
Not yet — this tool applies text only. Logo overlay is a planned addition and is not advertised as working.
Does it change the original file?
No. A new watermarked copy is generated for download; the file on your device is untouched.
