Getting readable photos

Flat, even light beats a bright lamp: overhead light plus a phone shadow is the usual reason a scan looks unreadable. Shoot straight down with the page filling the frame, and avoid the flash, which blows out the middle of glossy paper.

This tool lays your photos out as pages; it does not detect page edges or correct perspective. Crop each photo first if there is desk visible around the paper — the image cropper does that in a few seconds per page.

Keeping the file sendable

Modern phone photos are 3 to 6 MB each, so eight pages makes a PDF too big for many mail servers. Compressing the photos to around 1500 pixels wide before building the PDF keeps text sharp and lands the document under 2 MB.

Is this the same as JPG to PDF?

Can I add a page later?
Add all the photos in one session. To append to an existing PDF, build the new pages and merge the two documents.
